- Provide instruction in traditional TaeKwon-Do as a core curriculum,
maintaining excellence in standards
- Organize extracurricular activities which demonstrate the ITA philosophy
- Promote personal health: physical fitness, and emotional and spiritual
maturity without advocating specific religious affiliations
- Offer martial arts, fitness and wellness classes and activities
which complement the positive attitude, respectfulness, and work ethic
of the KMAI, and which aid in supporting the TaeKwon-Do program
- Give a high priority to customer service by showing equal attention
to each student's training, concern for individual accommodation, when
possible, and encourage family involvement
- Develop and maintain cohesiveness/cooperation amongst Blackbelts
through team-building activities, and maintain an ongoing link with Blackbelts
who are no longer active in the KMAI
- Support continuing education opportunities for Blackbelts to develop
and maintain martial arts and teaching skills
- Network with the Lapeer business community to educate the public on
martial arts, market our services, and support the ventures of like-minded
entrepreneurs
- Monitor our variable costs and maintain our prices at fair, competitive
levels which permit the KMAI to continue operating without acquiring additional
debt, while allowing for improvements

Head Instructor, John McDowell,
possesses a B.S. in Education and 24 years teaching experience. He currently
teaches science in the Marlette School System and is the winner of Excellence
in Teaching Awards. He has been training in martial arts for 26 years and is a
6th degree blackbelt
and certified instructor in the International
TaeKwon Do Association. His wife taught elementary school, and his oldest
daughter is currently in college majoring in education. His wife and all four of his children participate in our program.

TaeKwon Do Association.
In an effort to educate the public and dispel misconceptions and myths about martial arts that have been portrayed
and perpetuated by
the movies and television, we offer Lectures, Demonstrations, and
Mini-Classes.
